Excessive Heat Watch, Cooling Stations
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for Dedham and surrounding areas, from Tuesday afternoon (June 18) through Friday evening (June 21). This means that heat index values up to 106 are possible, increasing the potential for heat-related illnesses. To assist those without access to air conditioning, cooling centers will be available at the following locations this week:
Tuesday (June 18), Thursday (June 20), Friday (June 21):
- Visit the Ames Senior Center or Public Library (both locations) during normal business hours to stay cool:
Wednesday (June 19):
- Visit the Community Room at the Public Safety Building (26 Bryant Street) from 9AM to 5PM to stay cool.
- Please enter through the Main Entrance from the parking lot.
We urge everyone to take necessary precautions to stay safe and cool. It is important to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities, and wear light, breathable clothing. Remember, heat-related illnesses can be serious, and taking these precautions can help prevent them.
Please share this information with friends, family, and neighbors, and be sure to check on those around you. For more information, please visit our website at www.dedham-ma.gov/news or give us a call at 781-751-9100.
