Join the College Food Security Convening on Friday, August 28, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm to collaborate on improving college student food security across San Diego County. College basic needs coordinators, students, faculty, and community partners are invited to share best practices, discuss current challenges, and build cross-campus connections. The Kick the Flu +2 Summit brings together clinicians, health professionals, educators, and public health advocates to explore the latest flu, COVID-19, and RSV vaccine recommendations, review current data trends, and share effective strategies to strengthen immunization efforts. Air Improvement Relief Effort Program: Free Air Purifiers
The Air Improvement Relief Effort Program is now accepting applications. Eligible households can receive up to three air purifiers and replacement filters for free, while supplies last. Most households in the communities of Otay Mesa West, San Ysidro, Egger Highlands, Nestor, Tijuana River Valley, and the City of Imperial Beach are eligible. Households within the program area are encouraged to apply by Tuesday, September 1.

National Immunization Awareness Month
August is National Immunization Awareness Month! This is a great opportunity to highlight the importance of routine vaccinations for people of all ages and stages. Visit the County's Immunization Awareness Month website and the CDPH Routine Immunizations website for messaging and resources to promote vaccines for students, staff, and community members.

Institutional Challenge Grant
The Institutional Challenge Grant supports university-based research institutes, schools, and centers in building research-practice partnerships with public agencies or nonprofit organizations to reduce inequality in youth outcomes. Two Institutional Challenge Grants of $650,000 over three years will be awarded. Applications are due on Wednesday, September 9.

Join the CalFresh for College Students 2.0: New Enrollment Era webinar on Monday, September 14, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. All community members are welcome - from beginners to long-time experts. During the webinar, attendees will hear from several leaders across outreach, application assistance, case management, data and reporting, research, and policy.

Free Food Distributions
In partnership with Feeding San Diego and the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, the County of San Diego is expanding free food distributions at six community locations. There are no income or residence requirements to receive food. County staff will be on-site to help with CalFresh applications and work requirements.

Youth and young adults are invited to get an inside look at healthcare careers in San Diego County. From Classroom to Career: Healthcare Pathways in San Diego is a two-part experience to learn about career options, education and training pathways, and connect in real-world settings. The first session will take place virtually on Wednesday, September 9, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
