 County Budget Input Opportunity
Community members are invited to help shape the County’s budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, by completing the Engage San Diego County survey and using the ranking tool to share what services and programs matter most to them. Community feedback, along with data and funding considerations, helps guide important budget decisions. Participants can also choose how they’d like to receive updates. The survey is open through Sunday, March 22, and the recommended budget for fiscal year 2026–27 will be released May 1, 2026, with key dates available on the County’s open budget website.
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Symposium
The County of San Diego is excited to announce the upcoming Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (GRG) Symposium on Saturday, April 11, from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. The symposium is a special event designed for grandparents and other family-like caregivers who are providing full-time care for a child. This supportive and informative gathering will feature educational workshops, resource tables, connections to valuable community services, family wellness activities, refreshments, and opportunities to connect with others who share similar experiences. Caregivers are encouraged to take advantage of this meaningful event and register by Saturday, March 28.
Live Well San Diego H.R. 1 Toolkit
New changes to CalFresh and Medi-Cal will impact some community members across the region. Live Well San Diego is providing an H.R. 1 toolkit that offers clear, reliable information and helpful resources to support the communities served, including details on upcoming informational meetings, flyers and PowerPoint slides for outreach and education, frequently asked questions, and social media posts coming soon.

Measles Toolkit
Spring break travel is a great time to check that routine vaccinations are up to date, including protection against measles. With cases reported in some travel destinations, staying current on recommended vaccines helps protect individuals and the community. A measles toolkit from CDPH provides resources and information to prevent the spread.

March is National Nutrition Month, a perfect time to encourage healthy eating in our schools and communities. Good nutrition, along with regular exercise, supports overall well-being and decreases the risk of conditions such as obesity, depression, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. School nurses play a vital role in promoting student wellness and preventing obesity. Adolescent Immunization Action Week
Adolescent Immunization Action Week (AIAW) takes place from April 6-10. The County of San Diego is hosting a free webinar during AIAW to hear from experts on the current landscape of immunization, key data updates, and what this means for the health of San Diego. In addition, Unity Consortium is providing a partner toolkit that includes ready-to-use graphics, social media templates, sample newsletters, as well as posters and flyers to support this initiative.

School Immunizations Law Training
The County of San Diego is offering a free training on school immunization laws on Friday, March 20 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Register to deepen your understanding of California’s immunization regulations. This session will cover key procedures for reviewing immunization requirements and medical exemptions, explain the process for admitting or excluding students, and provide step-by-step guidance on manually completing the blue card.

Day of the Child Family Event
The Chula Vista Community Collaborative will be hosting Day of the Child on Saturday, April 11 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Day of the Child is a free family event that provides resources to keep children safe, healthy, and well-informed about services in the community. There will be plenty of fun activities such as entertainment, a car show, face painting, performers, dance contests, puppets, magic shows, story time, games, and much more!

All-Inclusive Day of Play: Starry Cinema & Resource Fair
Families of all abilities are invited to enjoy a fun and inclusive experience at the Annual All-Inclusive Day of Play: Starry Cinema & Resource Fair on Sunday, April 19 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. This free, public event—hosted by the Special Needs Resource Foundation—features a variety of engaging activities including interactive stations, games, crafts, prizes, shopping, and a sensory-friendly Starry Cinema movie area playing short films. Families can also connect with local service providers and access valuable resources!
