Love Your Heart San Diego
Love Your Heart brings together partners across the U.S. and Mexico to prevent heart disease and stroke by empowering communities to take charge of their heart health. The program provides heart health resources that educate participants on blood pressure numbers and what they mean, while encouraging awareness and prevention. Organizations from all sectors are invited to host blood pressure screening sites and help promote Love Your Heart. The screening site application is open through Friday, January 16.

Join the upcoming Advancing Throughout the Year webinar, Know Your Rights & Resources: Responding to ICE Enforcement Actions, on Tuesday, January 27, at 1:00 pm on Zoom. The webinar will cover employer-focused resources and feature a panel highlighting the types of support available. Participants will learn about employers’ rights during ICE enforcement actions, gain insight into strategies for implementing company policies that protect workers, and explore resources that businesses and organizations can provide to support their employees.

Bilingual and Dual Language Education
The Century Foundation and the Parent Institute for Quality Education are hosting a webinar to share findings from new research on family demand for bilingual and dual language education. The session will explore what families want schools to provide and is intended for educators, school and district leaders, advocates, and others working to support multilingual students and families. The webinar is offered at two different times on Tuesday, January 20, at 12:00 pm and on Wednesday, January 21, at 5:30 pm.

Funding and Grant Overview for Schools
Boost Cafe is hosting a free webinar, Show Me the Money: Introduction to Grants World, on Friday, February 6, at 10:00 am. It will provide an exploratory overview of the various types of funding that after-school programs and school sites are eligible for. The session will cover basic techniques to strengthen participants’ skills around grant research, alignment to existing initiatives, and overall assessment of funding opportunities.

Safe and Welcoming Environments in Schools
The California School-Based Health Alliance is proud to be part of ALL IN for Safe Schools, a California-based campaign working to create safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environments – especially for students from immigrant families, LGBTQ+ students, and other historically marginalized communities. ALL IN's new TK-12 toolkit offers a comprehensive hub designed to help educators implement safe, inclusive practices with clear Know Your Rights guidance.

Discussing Global Issues and Conflicts
SDCOE has resource guides available to support educators and families in discussing global issues and conflicts with students. As students encounter current events, it is important to provide thoughtful opportunities to explore these topics in the classroom, helping them develop critical thinking skills, consider diverse perspectives, and prepare for active civic engagement. SDCOE also offers additional resource guides on topics important to school communities.
