This October, take part in the Nature Unplugged Hike-A-Thon! The month-long event encourages participants to boost their own health, connect with community, and promote the importance of less screen time and more green time. The Hike-A-Thon inspires people of all ages and abilities to get outdoors while raising funds to support preventative mental health programs in schools and communities. Participants can log miles from anywhere in the world!

Immunization Schedule Update
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released an updated immunization schedule for children and adolescents. It includes new recommendations for RSV, influenza, and COVID-19. Families can view the AAP’s parent- and caregiver-friendly guide for more information and assistance in understanding these updated recommendations.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
In honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, San Diego County's Behavioral Health Services has developed a toolkit, themed "Together in Hope," designed to raise awareness, share messages of hope, and provide helpful resources. This toolkit includes downloadable guides, a calendar of community events, and more.

Parent Webinars - Tools for Well-Being and Online Safety
The San Diego County Office of Education is offering two series of free webinars for parents and caregivers. Learning to Relax Through Mindfulness is a four-part series designed to help participants explore stress management, relaxation techniques, and ways to cultivate emotional awareness. The Training Series on Online Safety will have eight sessions designed to help parents understand online safety and become confident digital partners in their child's learning journey.

What I Wish My Parents Knew - Forum
UC San Diego Youth Advancement Collective and the County of San Diego are hosting an in-person, parent-youth forum on Saturday, October 11, at 11:30am at 5469 Kearny Villa Road, San Diego. Families can register to join a conversation centered around uplifting youth voices, bridging stigmas between parents and youth on "hard to talk about" topics, addressing community issues, and connecting with well-being resources.

Scoop from You(th) Challenge: Piece of Mind – Deadline Extended!
The 2025 Scoop From You(th) Challenge: Piece of Mind has been extended! San Diego youth and young adults ages 12–25 now have until Friday, November 21 to submit their original artwork highlighting the importance of mental health. Participants may enter up to three submissions (one per category) for the opportunity to win up to $900 and be recognized at a special recognition event.
