A Networking Forum

Join us for a powerful Advancing Throughout the Year event that builds on the momentum of the Live Well Advance and School Summit! We’ll explore Assembly Bill 3216 and how schools can limit smartphone use to support student well-being. You’ll hear from leading experts, get actionable insights, and connect with fellow educators and partners. This in-person event will occur on April 30, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse. Registration is limited, so secure your spot now!

Alcohol Awareness Month

April is Alcohol Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol misuse and provide resources for prevention and treatment. The Rethinking Drinking website offers interactive strategies to help individuals reduce or quit drinking, and the Alcohol Treatment Navigator walks individuals through the process of finding treatment options and recovery resources. You can also utilize the Alcohol Harms Prevention Toolkit to help raise awareness throughout the month of April.

CDPH - Community Water Fluoridation

The California Department of Public Health has released a statement on community water fluoridation. CDPH supports fluoride in drinking water, reiterating that it is a safe and effective way to support human health and prevent tooth decay in children and adults. Regional Universities and Work-Force Development

Join this upcoming virtual forum on Tuesday, April 22, at 11:00 AM to learn about how institutions of higher education are preparing students for the changing job market. You will hear from experts about the skills adult learners seek, how universities are collaborating with employers, and barriers and best practices in working with employers to capture needed workforce skills.

Trump and Higher Ed: Understanding the Latest

Join the Chronicle of Higher Education for a series of webinars about understanding the latest higher education changes and challenges that are top of mind for colleges, their employees, and their students. These free webinars will be hosted on April 24 and May 8 at 10:00 AM.

Threads of Change

Join the upcoming equity summit, Threads of Change: Unraveling Barriers, Weaving Community, and Bridging our Future, on Friday, April 25, from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Balboa Park. You are invited to join for a half-day of connection and reflection focused on co-creating a more inclusive and thriving San Diego County. Hired and Inspired Block Party

Discover employment opportunities with community employers! If you are an Independent Living or Transitional Aged Youth between the ages of 13-25 there will be plenty of resources available to help you research job opportunities and make connections with employers. The event is on May 1 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. See this flyer for more information.

Bike Anywhere Day 2025

In celebration of National Bike Month, SANDAG invites the San Diego region to participate in Bike Anywhere Day from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Thursday, May 15. Bike Anywhere Day is a free event open to everyone and encourages participants to bike to work, school, or anywhere. ME2WE Scholarship

The ME2WE Scholarship application is now open! Community Action, Service & Advocacy (CASA) Neighborhoods is dedicated to supporting students who have made a positive impact in their community, and they will be awarding a total of $5,000 in scholarships. To be eligible, you must reside within the United States and be a high school senior, in post-secondary education, or applying for post-secondary education. Learn more and apply by May 23, 2025.
