Ventilation Guidance for Schools

New CDPH guidance on indoor air quality for schools recommends providing a minimum of 5 air changes per hour or 30 cubic feet per minute per occupant of clean air in classroom environments. Improving air quality limits the spread of respiratory infections and reduces absenteeism in schools. The updated guidance also reminds schools of the required minimum outdoor air ventilation rates set by The California Building Code (Title 24).

2025 Recommended Immunization Schedules

The Recommended Immunization Schedules for Persons Aged 0 Through 18 Years includes the age-based routine vaccination schedule for children and teens. The Simplified Immunization Schedules are designed to help patients and families better understand recommendations, immunizations, and vaccine-preventable diseases.

Drinking raw milk and eating raw milk products can lead to serious health risks. Choosing pasteurized milk and dairy foods is the best way to safely enjoy the nutritional benefits of milk and avoid getting sick. Planning Together: A Playbook for Student Personal Device Policies, provides a set of step-by-step practices for building a shared understanding of the needs and concerns surrounding personal devices in a school community, as well as recommendations for addressing them through clear and consistent policies (press release).

New Funding for After School Programs

The After School Education and Safety Program supports partnerships between schools and local community resources. This is an opportunity for school-based health centers and wellness centers to launch or expand youth engagement programs in K-9 settings, such as peer-to-peer mental health supports. Family Engagement Solutions

Family engagement is a key factor in student success, impacting attendance, behavior, academic achievement, and graduation rates. Family Engagement Solutions is a new online tool from the National PTA and Johns Hopkins University to help district and school leaders, educators, and advocates find evidence-based programs that strengthen family-school partnerships and improve student outcomes.

QPR Suicide Prevention Workshop

The San Diego Therapy Center is hosting a Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Workshop on January 15, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM. The training will teach you how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and intervene effectively. Register today!
