Free At-Home COVID-19 Tests
As of late September 2024, households in the US are eligible to order 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests from the U.S. Postal Service. While the tests may show "expired" dates on the box, the FDA has extended the expiration dates of the tests being distributed. Please share the ordering link with your school community to encourage families to prepare for respiratory virus season.

Office of School Health Hub
The Office of School Health Hub has key resources and information to support safe, in-person learning in TK-12 schools and mitigate the spread of communicable diseases. New resources will be added regularly, and the hub already includes resources for vaccines, ventilation and air quality, behavioral health, communicable diseases, substance use prevention, and more.

Youth Substance Use Prevention Month
October is National Youth Substance Use Prevention Month. SAMHSA's national youth substance use prevention campaign, "Talk. They Hear You.," helps us get informed, be prepared, and take action to prevent underage drinking and other substance use. You can also use these Substance Use Prevention Resources for Youth to educate about substance misuse and promote substance use prevention all year long.

Attendance Champions Challenge
Through the Attendance Champions Challenge, the US Department of Education aims to engage young people ages 13-19 to identify new ways of understanding school attendance and engagement, and propose creative solutions that build on evidence-based strategies. The challenge is open now through November 29, 2024.

Emergency Planning Training for Rural Schools
The Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Technical Assistance Center is pleased to offer the course, Planning Considerations for K-12 Rural Schools. The Course provides strategies that enhance emergency management planning for rural schools. They will provide free training materials and subject matter expert trainers for the event hosted at your site or virtually. Please plan to submit the Training Request Application at least 45 days before your requested training date.

Now through October 31, San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU) is partnering with San Diego County Library to collect new or gently used books for the Lift Up Literacy Book Drive. Members and non-members can stop by any San Diego County SDCCU branch location to donate books in the designated bins.
