We are now accepting exhibitor applications for the 2024 Live Well Advance Conference and School Summit Connection Hub. The Connection Hub is a place for Live Well Advance attendees to get inspired, meet with experts, and check out the latest programs, resources, and activities from our partners. Apply to be an exhibitor by September 20, 2024.

Check Your Mood 2024

Check Your Mood is on October 10, 2024. Check Your Mood is an annual reminder that mental health checkups, including depression screenings, should be a regular and integral part of your overall healthcare.

We need your help to offer free mental health resources and screenings. You can help by:

Distributing flyers and promoting the event with the e-toolkit
Hosting an in-person site with Check Your Mood screenings
Setting up a resource table with Check Your Mood materials
Joining the social media campaign

Fill out the site registration form by Thursday, September 26, to let us know how you are participating in Check Your Mood 2024. Thank you for helping raise awareness and support for mental health in San Diego County!

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

In honor of Suicide Prevention Month this September, Behavioral Health Services has created a Suicide Prevention Toolkit with downloadable and shareable content such as social media posts, resource guides, and activity worksheets. You can also check out mental health trainings, find suicide prevention events in your area, and participate in the 30-day Mental Wellness Practice.

Healthy Habits for Healthy Communities, 5210+

Introducing the Refreshed 5210+ Campaign

Since 2011, the Childhood Obesity Initiative has promoted the 5210 Every Day campaign, encouraging families to adopt daily practices that improve health and wellbeing. The refreshed 5210+ campaign now incorporates sleep as a key healthy behavior! Please share the updated campaign materials with your families and on social media.

Now Accepting Educator Grant Applications - Cal Coast Cares Foundation

Grants Available for Classroom Projects

The Cal Coast Cares Foundation is now accepting grant applications from local educators in K-12 public, private, or charter schools in San Diego County to support special classroom projects in any of the STREAM fields. Selected educators will receive grants of $500-$2,500. Apply for the grant by October 7, 2024.

Vaccinations for School-Age Children

On September 25 at 12:00pm, there will be a webinar on Vaccinations for School-Age Children: Opportunities for Health Promotion, Collaboration, and Family Engagement. Register to join this webinar and learn about current trends in national vaccination coverage, vaccine recommendations for students, evidence-based strategies for strengthening vaccination coverage, and the role of school nurses as community leaders in health promotion.

Get Schools Cooking - A systems approach to change

Get Schools Cooking Program

The Get Schools Cooking program helps school districts transition from a heat-and-serve to a scratch-cooking operational model so they can serve students fresher, healthier, and more appetizing meals. Apply for the program by September 30, 2024 to join the next cohort of districts increasing their scratch cooking capacity.

Join the Youth Changemakers Summit

At the Youth Changemakers Summit from September 28 - 29, youth ages 15-24 and youth allies will have access to training, intergenerational networks, and leadership opportunities that will allow them to organize their communities to solve the issues that affect youth the most. No prior experience or knowledge is needed, and everyone is welcome to this free two-day conference at San Diego City College. Register today!

Volunteer for Coastal Cleanup Day

September 21 is the 40th annual Costal Cleanup Day, California's largest organized cleanup effort focused on waterway pollution prevention. Sign up to volunteer at one of over 100 cleanup sites throughout the county. You can join as an individual, with friends and family, or as a corporate team.
