Equity Impact Grant

The County of San Diego's Office of Equity and Racial Justice (OERJ) and the Nonprofit Institute at the University of San Diego (NPI) have opened the second round of funding for the Equity Impact Grant (EIG) Program.

This EIG program was developed to address the challenges that organizations face when applying for government contracts and philanthropic funding, and each cycle, the program will support 10 qualified San Diego-based social impact organizations/initiatives with $100,000 in general operating support grants.

Learn more about the EIG Program and go over the eligibility criteria to apply. You can also attend virtual information sessions on August 7th and August 16th to ask questions.

Applications are due by Friday, August 23, at 5 PM.

Outdoor Business Grant

As part of a pilot project started in 2023, the City of San Diego's Economic Development Department (EDD) created the Outdoor Business Grant, which provides up to $20,000 to support businesses working to create outdoor dining spaces that contribute to the enjoyment of the public environment. EDD will be prioritizing businesses located in underserved communities.

The total amount currently available for Fiscal Year 2025 (ending June 30, 2025) is approximately $300,000. Learn more and apply here.

Neighborhood Reinvestment Program

The Neighborhood Reinvestment Program provides grant funds to County departments, public agencies, and to non-profit community organizations for one-time community, social, environmental, educational, cultural, or recreational needs.

American Indian Education Center Request for Applications

The California Department of Education is granting a Request for Applications (RFA) to solicit applications from eligible Tribal Groups or Incorporated American Indian Associations for grants to operate American Indian Education Centers (AIEC). 

The budget is anticipated to allocate approximately $5.1 million for the fiscal year 2024-25. AIEC funds may be used for several purposes, to include improving the academic achievement of American Indian pupils, and provide training programs to develop pathways to college and the workplace for American Indian pupils.

Export Training Grant Program

The International Affairs and Trade unit at the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) launched their Export Training Program, which offers competitive grants ranging from $20,000 to $200,000 to service providers to develop or scale export training programs and curricula.

The program is aimed at supporting California small business owners, providing access to export services for underserved businesses, advancing immigrant integration and supporting immigrant entrepreneurs, and including training programs in languages other than English wherever possible.

Active Transportation Program

The Active Transportation Plan was implemented to encourage increased use of active modes of transportation, increase the safety and mobility of non-motorized users, advance efforts of regional agencies to achieve greenhouse gas reduction, and enhance overall public health, including in disadvantaged communities.
