World Sickle Cell Day - June 19
June 19 is World Sickle Cell Day, an international awareness day that aims to increase public knowledge and understanding of sickle cell disease and the challenges experienced by patients, their families, and caregivers.This year, the Shine the Light on Sickle Cell campaign, supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration, invites everyone to raise awareness of this serious public health concern affecting more than 100,000 people in the United States and 20 million people around the world.

Welcoming Schools
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation recently released their Welcoming Schools framework. This framework provides educators and administrators with a comprehensive bias-based bullying prevention program to facilitate LGBTQ+ and gender inclusive development training, lesson plans, booklists, and resources.

Peer-to-Peer Resources
The California School-Based Health Alliance recently published a new resource hub to help school-based health centers, wellness centers, schools, and school partners develop high quality, youth-centered, and equity-focused peer-to-peer programs that support the well-being of young people. The new resource hub has information on various approaches and models, highlighting the flexibility and adaptability of school-based peer-to-peer programs.

Bee and Butterfly Sustainability Festival
Summer Movies in the Park is the largest free and family-friendly outdoor movie series in San Diego County, with dozens of hosting sites and over a hundred screenings.

Free Summer Lunch Program
San Diego Public Library has partnered with the San Diego Unified School District to help end summer hunger. Free summer lunch will be provided for youth aged 0-18 at select libraries, parks, recreation centers, and other community sites from June 10 - August 2; some locations will also serve breakfast.
