 Information Session: 2024 USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Grant Program

Stakeholders that serve unincorporated San Diego communities are invited to attend a virtual information session on the 2024 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) Community Facilities Grant Program. Representatives from USDA Rural Development will provide information about the application process and share examples of previous successful initiatives, projects and/or programs related to K-12, public entities, and community-based/non-profit organizations serving unincorporated San Diego communities.
The USDA-RD Community Facilities Grant Program provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas with populations of 20,000 or less. Funds can be used to purchase, construct and/or improve essential community facilities, equipment and related projects.

 SDG&E’s Environmental Champions Initiative
SDG&E’s Environmental Champions initiative supports 501(c)3 non-profit organizations whose programs work to improve our local environment in San Diego County. Nonprofit organizations in SDG&E’s service territory may apply for program funding that supports climate action in habitat restoration or urban greening.

 Genentech Health Equity Innovation Fund
The Genentech Health Equity Innovation Fund provides grants to individuals, organizations and communities whose work to advance game-changing approaches for eliminating health inequities has been historically under-resourced. Grants can be used to develop and test novel ideas or tools, implement demonstration projects, resource collaboration and partnership, and support research that goes beyond “studying the problem” or builds capacity within a single institution.

 Clean Air for All Grant Campaign
The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District launched the Clean Air for All Grant Campaign to help businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies swap their polluting heavy machinery and equipment for electric and low carbon emission alternatives. Equipment/Vehicle Replacement/Repower, Marine Engine Repower/Replacement, Infrastructure Projects, School Projects, and Stationary Source Projects can be funded with this campaign.

Advancing Health Equity in Asthma Control through EXHALE Strategies
The CDC National Asthma Control Program is designed to improve the health and quality of life for people living with asthma. Recipients will strengthen existing organizational infrastructure and leverage existing partnerships with different sectors and community members to expand the reach and sustainability of asthma control services through implementation of the EXHALE technical package.

 El Cajon Business Beautification Grant
The Program is designed expressly for the purpose of providing financial assistance in the form of reimbursement to eligible businesses within the City of El Cajon limits for undertaking new exterior improvements.

After School Education and Safety FY2024-25
The After School Education and Safety (ASES) programs are created through partnerships between schools and local community resources to provide literacy, academic enrichment and safe, constructive alternatives for students in kindergarten through ninth grade. Funding is designed to:
- Maintain existing before and after school program funding; and
- Provide eligibility to all elementary and middle schools that submit quality applications throughout California.

SBA Disaster Loans
Businesses and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed property, equipment, inventory, and other business assets. The loans will cover losses that are not fully covered by insurance or other recoveries.
