The Streetcar Modernization Master Plan is moving forward, and your input continues to shape it. Join us at one of two final public meetings in September to hear the latest recommendations and share your thoughts on improving accessibility, safety, reliability and efficiency across the streetcar system.
You’ll also see how feedback from the project survey, focus groups and earlier public meetings is reflected in the proposal headed to the RTA Board of Commissioners later this fall.

 Congratulations to Cohort 3 of the RTA LEAD Leadership Academy! Over 10 sessions, employees from across RTA built their leadership skills, learned from one another, and gained new tools to help them grow and make a greater impact within the agency.
They put that learning into action through Capstone projects, working together to develop fresh ideas for strengthening RTA and improving how we serve you.

RTA welcomed Alison D. Bordelon to the RTA Board of Commissioners during its August meeting.
Commissioner Bordelon brings decades of leadership experience in workforce development, higher education, strategic planning, and public service. Her career includes roles with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Louisiana Commission on Human Rights, BioDistrict New Orleans, SkillsUSA Louisiana, National Maritime Workforce Alliance and University of Holy Cross.
She will also serve on the Board’s Operations Committee, helping guide decisions that shape our daily operations and the service you receive. Please join us in welcoming Commissioner Bordelon to RTA.

This month, we pause to remember four individuals whose lives were deeply connected to RTA and the New Orleans community.
Leonard “Charlie” Veal, Tyrone “Big Tee” Morris and Marc Lloyd Popkin each devoted decades of service to RTA. Charlie served the agency for 43 years, including as Director of Operations and Superintendent of Rail. Marc spent 41 years as a valued member of our Legal Department. Big Tee was also a longtime member of the RTA family whose service and presence touched many throughout the agency. Together, they helped shape RTA through their knowledge, dedication, and commitment to the people we serve.
We also join the community in remembering Jerome “Big Duck” Smith, a Civil Rights Freedom Rider, cultural keeper and tireless advocate for New Orleans youth. Through Tambourine and Fan, he gave generations of young people a deeper connection to the city’s history and culture while teaching them to stand for justice and for one another. RTA was proud to honor his legacy by featuring his image on one of our buses.
We extend our deepest condolences to their families, friends, and colleagues. Their years of service tell only part of the story. Their greatest legacy lives in the people they guided, encouraged and inspired along the way.
