Dear Rider,
Spring in New Orleans moves fast, and this season has been no exception. From French Quarter Fest to the Crescent City Classic and Jazz Fest, the city has been on the move, and RTA has been moving with it.
Even with the energy and added demand that comes with festival season, our priority stays steady: getting our everyday riders to work, school, appointments, and home safely and reliably. This is one of the busiest times of the year for our system, and it takes coordination across the board. I want to thank our operators, maintenance teams, dispatchers, and frontline staff for the work they do every day to keep the city going.
That same focus carried us through a demanding first quarter. Planning, coordination, and teamwork kept service steady while the city filled up, and travel needs increased across the region.
In the coming weeks, we’re preparing for upcoming service changes informed by rider feedback and travel patterns, while also getting ready for hurricane season. Be on the lookout for updated service guides and emergency preparedness materials to help you stay informed and ready.
Thank you for riding with us.

The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority has officially welcomed a new Board of Commissioners, marking an important step forward in strengthening leadership and governance across the agency.
The new board includes Ann Duplessis, Tyrone Casby, Barbara Major, Erika Mann, and Nelita Manego Ramsey, who join current commissioner Mitchell Guidry. Together, this group will help guide RTA’s priorities and support continued improvements to transit services across the region.
Leadership roles and committee assignments have also been established to provide focused oversight in key areas such as Operations/Administration & Finance. This transition reflects a broader effort to position RTA for continued progress, with an emphasis on collaboration, accountability, and delivering reliable, accessible transit service for riders.

Festival season is in full swing, and RTA is encouraging riders to roll to Jazz Fest using convenient and reliable public transit options.
With large crowds expected and limited parking near the Fair Grounds, taking transit is one of the easiest ways to get to and from the festival. RTA bus and streetcar routes provide access to areas near the Fair Grounds, making it easy to connect from across the city.
Riders can take advantage of Jazzy Passes, with one-day passes available for just $3, offering an affordable way to travel throughout the day.
Plan, allow extra travel time, and check real-time updates using the Le Pass app or RTA website. Skip the traffic, avoid the hassle, and let RTA get you to Jazz Fest.

RTA will implement its Summer 2026 service adjustments starting May 17. These changes are minor and designed to improve reliability, efficiency, and the overall rider experience across the system.
A small number of routes will see schedule or routing updates, including:
- 202 Airport Express – schedule adjustments and improved frequency
- 31/32 Leonidas – routing adjustment in the Hollygrove area
-
45 Lakeview Loop – routing adjustment near Canal Blvd and Allen Toussaint
- 47/48 Canal Streetcars – minor schedule adjustments
In addition, riders may notice small updates to bus stop locations across the system to better align with actual stop signage and improve accuracy in trip planning tools.
RTA encourages riders to check updated schedules and plan for the May 17 service change.

RTA recently reached a major milestone, with ferry service surpassing 5 million passenger trips, a significant achievement for one of the region’s most important cross-river connections.
This milestone reflects the continued trust our riders place in ferry service and highlights the role it plays in connecting communities across Algiers Point, Canal Street, and Chalmette. It also underscores the progress made in strengthening reliability, improving safety, and delivering consistent service for daily riders.
As ferry ridership grows, RTA is committed to delivering dependable operations and ensuring this critical service supports mobility across the region.

RTA joined New Orleans City Councilmember Freddie King III’s recent job fair, connecting directly with residents and sharing career opportunities across the agency.
These events allow us to engage with the community, highlight pathways in public transit, and meet people interested in helping keep New Orleans moving. Team members answered questions, shared information about open roles, and discussed how transit careers support the city’s growth and connectivity.
We value the opportunity to show up, build relationships, and connect people to opportunity.
