RTA was proud to partner once again with the YouthForce NOLA Educators Externship Program to help connect local educators with real-world career pathways in public transit.
For the second year in a row, RTA’s Department of Workforce Development welcomed teachers for a two-day workshop that included department presentations and behind-the-scenes tours of the Canal and Carrollton Streetcar Barns. Educators had the opportunity to engage with staff across the agency and hear directly from RTA’s skilled craftsmen.
By bringing industry insights back to the classroom, these educators are helping to inspire the next generation of transit professionals.
Reminder! RTA has launched extended evening hours on the Canal Street ferry, just in time for summer! Now through the end of September, the last boat departs as late as 12:15 a.m. every night, giving riders more flexibility, especially those who work or travel late. Whether you’re heading home from a shift, a show, or a night out, the ferry will be there to get you across the river.
This pilot program is part of our ongoing commitment to making transit more accessible for all New Orleanians. We’ll be monitoring feedback and performance throughout the summer to help shape the future of ferry service.
