RTA releases fall 2024 transit schedule

Hybrid bus

On Sept. 22, the RTA implemented its fall 2024 transit schedule. RTA turned the 66-Hayne Loop to its previous route after completing repairs to the Seabrook Bridge; the route resumed serving the University of New Orleans and Southern University-New Orleans. Jefferson Parish Transit assumes operations of the 201-Kenner Loop bus route, which RTA will no longer service. There are slight schedule adjustments to seven bus routes, route adjustments to two bus routes, and detours in effect on three routes due to ongoing roadwork. Several schedule adjustments will lead to minor improvements in service frequency.

RTA responds to Hurricane Francine

Hurricane clean-up

As part of our response to Hurricane Francine, many RTA employees, including our Operations, Safety & Security, IT, and Maintenance teams, worked tirelessly to bring back our services and keep the public informed at every step. As soon as they were able after the storm, our roadwork crews were out in the late-night/early-morning hours, clearing streetcar lines and debris, trimming trees that had fallen on catenary lines, documenting vehicles obstructing streetcar lines, and ensuring that we could return to at least a limited bus service as soon as possible. Our IT team worked to restore our phone lines to field customer questions, concerns, and requests. Rapid restoration could only have happened with the diligence of these teams. We appreciate them.
