Winter 2024 service change to go into effect Jan. 14
Next month, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority plans fleet and service frequency reductions that will better prioritize its vehicle maintenance efforts and improve service reliability. The key changes include reducing fixed-route bus service by an additional 20% to ensure sufficient vehicles are available to provide consistent, reliable service for riders; retiring eight buses and temporarily removing 24 mechanically non-operable buses so that each mechanic can work on fewer buses and prioritize those that take less time to repair. The new schedule goes into effect Jan. 14, 2024. Please visit norta.com/servicechange to review a summary of changes.

Current Canal-Algiers ferry service hours remain in place for 2024
The RTA received a letter of intent from the City of New Orleans outlining its commitment to identify a funding source for the $3 million required to maintain current service levels in 2024. The commitment will enable RTA to continue operating its ferry service Sunday – Thursday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., as well as Friday and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
RTA service to LUNA Fete West
RTA partnered with the City of Gretna to provide additional ferry service connecting downtown New Orleans to Gretna for LUNA Fête West. The RTA ran ferry services from Canal to Gretna on the half hour and from Gretna to Canal on the hour. This service was made possible by the City of Gretna assuming all costs related to the extended service.
