NOPD Investigating Homicide by Shooting in Seventh District
 NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD is investigating a homicide by shooting that occurred today (November 8, 2026) in the 7000 block of Ridgefield Drive in the Seventh District.
At approximately 3:42 a.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call for service regarding a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female victim in the backyard of a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will determine the exact cause of death and identify the victim upon notification of family.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.
