NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District
 NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a Homicide by Shooting that occurred in the 5500 block of Crowder Boulevard in the Seventh District.
Seventh District officers responded to a 911 call reporting a person shot inside a vehicle at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that had crashed and discovered an adult Black male in the driver’s seat suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
A second individual, who had been a passenger in the vehicle, exited the vehicle following the crash and fled the immediate area. Officers subsequently located and temporarily detained the individual while investigators worked to determine his involvement in the incident. The individual was not injured and was later determined not to be a suspect in the homicide.
Upon further investigation, the incident was classified as a homicide, and NOPD Homicide Section assumed control of the investigation.
Investigators are currently gathering evidence and information to identify the person or persons responsible for this incident and to determine a motive. No arrests have been made in connection with this investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and determine the official cause of death following notification of family members and completion of an autopsy.
