NORD Announces Opening of 2026 Summer Pool Season
NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission is excited to announce the opening of the 2026 summer pool season beginning Saturday, May 30, 2026, with pools opening across the city to help residents stay active, cool off, and enjoy the summer months.
Pools open on Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM include:
- George V. Rainey Natatorium
- Gert Town Natatorium
- Treme Recreation Community Center Pool
- Sanchez Multi-Purpose Center Pool
- Joe W. Brown Pool
- Federal City Pool
- Lemann Pool on Lafitte Greenway
- Pradat Pool
- Rosenwald Recreation Center Pool
- Sampson Pool
- Stallings Gentilly Pool
- Stallings St. Claude Recreation Center Pool
- Whitney Young Pool
NORD is also partnering with the Lafitte Greenway Partnership to celebrate the reopening of Lemann Pool on the Lafitte Greenway. Representatives from the Lafitte Greenway Partnership will be on site with free goggles and giveaways for the first 50 kids beginning at 9:00am on Saturday.
St. Bernard Recreation Center Pool will open on Monday, June 1.
Outdoor pools will operate Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM throughout the summer.

“We’re excited to have so many pools opening across New Orleans for residents and families to enjoy this summer, free of charge,” said Larry Barabino, Jr., CEO of NORD Commission. “These pools are important community spaces where residents can stay active, learn to swim, spend time together, and find relief from the summer heat.”
NORD pools provide free opportunities for residents of all ages to swim, exercise, and enjoy the summer in a safe and welcoming environment.
