NEW ORLEANS - The City of New Orleans announced that beginning Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor, CMG Pipelines, Inc., will temporarily close both lanes of Filmore Avenue from Canal Boulevard to Argonne Boulevard to excavate pits and prepare for sewer work on Filmore Avenue. During this period, residents are encouraged to utilize alternate travel routes when possible.

Filmore Avenue (Canal Boulevard - Argonne Boulevard)
This work is part of the $20M Lakeview North Group F & G joint infrastructure project between the Department of Public Works and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. Once complete, residents will experience improved drainage, repaired streets, curbs, sidewalks, and the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections. The project is scheduled to be fully completed by Summer 2026, weather permitting. Parking impacts are anticipated in the construction area for the duration of the project. “No Parking” signs will be posted in advance, and motorists are encouraged to follow posted restrictions to help ensure a smooth and safe construction process. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Safety is our top priority. Traffic control measures and signage will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the area.
