TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Temporary Lane Shift Eastbound on Leon C. Simon Drive beginning March 2
NEW ORLEANS - Beginning Monday, March 2, 2026, the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW), in coordination with its contractor, Barriere Construction Company, LLC, will implement a temporary eastbound lane shift on Leon C. Simon Drive at Waldo Drive for approximately one month to accommodate paving work at the intersection.
This lane shift is necessary to complete essential roadway restoration on the 1800 block of Leon C. Simon Drive as part of the New Orleans FEMA Optimized Groups (NOFOG) 5 – St. Anthony East/West Group B & C (RR227).
As a part of the RR227 St. Anthony East/West Group B and C Project, crews will actively install new subsurface utilities along with roadway improvement throughout the area. Construction on this project is expected to continue through Spring 2027, weather permitting. During this time, crews will repave the asphalt roadway from curb-to-curb, repair damaged sidewalks, install ADA compliant curb ramps at intersections, and replace damaged underground water, sewer and drainage.
Parking impacts are anticipated within the construction area. “No Parking” signage will be posted in advance. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Safety is our top priority. Traffic control measures and signage will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the area.
