Moreno Administration Statement on Lack of Access to Official City of New Orleans Social Media Accounts

NEW ORLEANS —Nearly a week into the Helena Moreno Administration, the 63rd mayor of New Orleans still does not have access to the City’s social media accounts, leaving Mayor Moreno unable to inform constituents of updates in the Crescent City.

This includes major historic milestones like being sworn in by Vice President Kamala Harris, her 13 executive orders outlining the City’s New Direction, and major improvements coming to the Crescent City’s streets, sidewalks and the installation of streetlights in much needed, underserved areas.

“Mayor Helena Moreno is committed to transparency and keeping New Orleanians informed about their government. Since taking office Monday, our team has been hard at work providing information to the public. Unfortunately, our team did not receive key security credentials and accurate passwords to access city social media accounts despite requests throughout the transition. To solve this, we’ve elevated this issue to the highest levels at the social media companies and aim to resolve this as soon as possible. We’ll continue to work 24/7 to make sure the people of New Orleans stay informed.”
