TRAFFIC ADVISORY: TEMPORARY NORTH-BOUND LANE CLOSURES OF OLD HAMMOND HIGHWAY AT REGENT STREET

Traffic advisory

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) announces that starting the week of Dec. 1 at 7 a.m., there will be intermittent closures to through traffic on the North-bound left lanes of N.O. Hammond Highway to allow DPW contractor Hard Rock Construction Co. LLC to mobilize ahead of completing concrete panel replacements. Traffic will be shifted to one lane and local access will be maintained. Crews will also perform sidewalk and ADA ramp upgrades on Regent Street at N.O. Hammond Highway. These closures are expected to last for approximately two weeks.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure. Traffic control measures — including signage, cones, and fencing — will be in place to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians. Parking will be prohibited on blocks where crews are actively working. “No parking” signs will be posted in advance to notify residents and businesses.

This work is part of the DPW775: Right of Way Concrete Improvement Project, which includes concrete panel replacement, paving and sidewalk repairs at various locations throughout the city. Construction activities generally take place Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.
