NORD PAUSES TEEN FALL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DUE TO CITY BUDGET CONSTRAINTS
NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission has announced a temporary pause to the Teen Fall Internship Program due to citywide budget constraints. The program, which has been running for the past two weeks, will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 25, with the pause taking effect Monday, Oct. 27.
All participating teens will be compensated for the time they have worked. The payroll date is pending final confirmation from the City’s Finance Department. Parents and guardians will be notified immediately once checks are available for pickup at NORD’s main office.
“The Teen Fall Internship Program plays a key role in NORD’s workforce development initiatives and in supporting teen and youth crime prevention efforts,” said Larry Barabino, Jr., CEO of the NORD Commission. “While we are disappointed to pause the program, we are hopeful it will return in 2026. Our teens are the heart of what we do, and we remain committed to helping them gain meaningful skills and real-world experience. This pause does not affect regularly scheduled NORD Teen Council meetings or events, which will continue as planned.”
NORD will notify current participants and families once the Teen Internship Program is able to resume.
