City of New Orleans Extends Ticket Amnesty Program Through September 30

Drivers urged to act now before additional collection measures begin

NEW ORLEANS —The City of New Orleans is extending its Ticket Amnesty Program

through September 30, giving drivers one more month to resolve past-due parking and traffic camera tickets without paying late fees.

The program, which, for the first time, offers flexible, interest-free payment plans for parking and traffic camera tickets, has already helped thousands of drivers get back on track. Since launching this summer, participants have saved over $750,000 in late fees, resolved more than 8,500 citations, and made over $277,000 in payments, with an additional $609,000 scheduled through payment plans. More than 3,500 drivers have paid their balances in full, started affordable payment plans online, or completed a plan with the average enrolled driver saving $300 in late fees while avoiding more serious collection actions.

Momentum is building, and the numbers show it. From the start of the program, enrollment has steadily increased, driven by ongoing outreach and strong community engagement. In the past month alone, more than 2,000 new payment plans have been started. This kind of ramp-up reflects a common pattern in successful amnesty efforts: people respond when they’re given time, clear information, and easy ways to act. Extending the program gives more drivers that opportunity, and many are taking it.

How It Works

  • Eligible Tickets: Parking tickets over 30 days old and traffic camera tickets more than 60 days past-due (as of June 1, 2025)
  • What's Waived: 100% of late fees.
  • Payment Options: Pay in full or start an interest-free plan for parking tickets.
  • How to Start: Visit nola.gov/nolatefees to look up your tickets and choose your payment option — all online, available 24/7.

Why Act Now

Drivers have until September 30 to take advantage of waived late fees and flexible payment options. After that, the City will begin using the Louisiana Office of Debt Recovery to collect unpaid parking citations through a variety of ways, including:

  • Offsetting Louisiana state tax refunds
  • Intercepting federal and state vendor payments
  • Using outside collection agencies
  • Levying bank accounts
  • Garnishing wages

Check your tickets and take action by September 30 at nola.gov/nolatefees.
