TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Temporary Street Closures in the Fairgrounds Neighborhood for Resurfacing Work

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced that starting Wednesday, April 9, the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor, Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC, will implement temporary street closures in the Fairgrounds neighborhood to perform resurfacing work. Milling and paving operations will take place on weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the following locations:

• Desaix Blvd. (St. Bernard Ave. – Winthrop Pl.)
• Derby Pl. (Gentilly Blvd. – N. Salcedo St.)
• Saltus St. (Trafalgar St. – Castiglione St.)
• Columbus St. (Bayou Rd. – N. Broad St.)

These street sections will be fully closed approximately one day for milling and one day for paving, with all work expected to be completed by April 17. The closures will be lifted at the end of each workday, and the streets will reopen to traffic.

Parking will be prohibited on these streets during daytime construction hours but will be allowed overnight. Traffic control measures and appropriate signage will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely around the work zones.

Please note that construction schedules, dates, and durations are subject to change due to weather, equipment delays, unforeseen conditions, utility conflicts, or crew availability.

This work is part of the DPW773 2024 Right of Way (ROW) Improvements Phase 2 Project.
