DPW Construction Updates
The Department of Public Works is currently performing construction at various locations across the city. The current focus are as follows:
- Bourbon Street Bollard Assessment & Replacement Project
- 2024 Central Business District (CBD) Right of Way Project
- 2024 French Quarter (FQ) Right of Way Project
- Dowman Road / Lincoln Beach Project
- Hotel Collapse Site Rehabilitation
- Sidewalk Repairs

Bourbon Street Bollard Assessment & Replacement Project
Scope: Replacing old bollards with new removable stainless-steel bollards and sidewalk repairs at various locations on Bourbon St. between Canal and St. Ann
Status: Work on the bollard removal and replacement project began on Monday, Nov. 18, and is expected to continue through Jan. 2025. The work is being done in phases, with each phase lasting about 3-4 weeks. Crews are performing work on both sides of each cross street, but intersections will remain open to vehicular traffic.
This week, bollard installation is happening at Canal and Bourbon, as well as Iberville and Bourbon. Sidewalk work is taking place at St. Ann/Orleans and Bourbon. Brickwork is underway at Conti and Bourbon. At Toulouse and Bourbon, crews are removing bollards on the north side, completing sidewalk work on the south side, and removing roadway on the north side.

2024 CBD Right of Way Project
Scope: Roadway resurfacing, re-striping, sidewalk repairs, installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant ramps, and driveway apron repairs

- Perdido St. (S. Galvez St. – Claiborne Ave.)
- Perdido St. (Loyola Ave. – St. Charles Ave.)
- Gravier St. (LaSalle St. – Loyola Ave.)
- Union St. (S. Rampart St. – Carondelet St.)
- Natchez St. (Camp St – Tchoupitoulas St.)
- N. Maestri Pl. (St. Charles Ave. – Camp St.)
- S. Maestri Pl. (St. Charles Ave. – Camp St.)
- Girod St. (Loyola Ave. – Convention Center Blvd.)
- Howard Ave. (Loyola Ave. – Tivoli Circle)
- S. Prieur St. (Perdido St. – Tulane Ave.)
- Carondelet St. (Poydras St. – Canal St.)
- St. Charles Ave. (Poydras St. – Canal St.)
- S. Broad St. (Howard Ave.– Euphrosine St.)
Status: This week, day work includes concrete operations on Old Poydras St., Perdido St., and Union St. Night work involves milling on Perdido St. and S. Prieur St., along with paving operations on Perdido St., S. Prieur St., and Howard Ave.
Next week, day work includes concrete operations on Union St. and Perdido St. No day work is scheduled on Dec. 24 or Dec. 25. Night work includes milling on Union St. and Natchez St., as well as paving operations on Union St. and Howard Ave. No night work is scheduled from Dec. 24 through Dec. 28.

2024 FQ Right of Way Project

- Ursulines Avenue: 500 – 1000 blocks

- St. Louis Street: 1100 block
- Madison Street: 600 block
- St. Peter Street: 700-1000 block
- Conti Street: 500 – 600 / 900 – 1100 blocks
- Clinton Street: 200 block
- Chartres Street: 100 – 600 / 800 – 1300 blocks
- Frenchmen Street: 400 – 600 blocks
- Burgundy Street: 2200 – 2500 blocks
- Decatur Street: 2200 – 2500 blocks
Status: Construction activities began on December 2 and are expected to continue through February 2025, weather permitting. Crews are working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Sunday. For the latest Traffic Advisory with detailed traffic impacts, click here.
This week, crews are performing milling operations in the 600 block of St. Ann St., the 800-1000 blocks of Chartres St., the 600 block of Madison St., the 500 block of Ursulines St., and the 700 block of Decatur St. Paving operations are taking place in the 1000-900 blocks of St. Ann St., the 1000-700 blocks of St. Peter St., the 600 block of St. Ann St., the 800-1000 blocks of Chartres St., the 600 block of Madison St., the 500 block of Ursulines St., and the 700 block of Decatur St.

Dowman Road / Lincoln Beach Project
Scope: Road resurfacing, striping, sidewalk repairs, and underground utility updates
Status:
Dowman Rd. (Hayne Blvd. to Chef Menteur Hwy.): This week, construction crews are completing asphalt paving on Dowman Rd. Sidewalk and driveway work is ongoing. These activities will continue next week.
Lincoln Beach Blvd. and Providence Pl: Construction activities on Providence Pl. and Lincoln Beach Blvd. have been completed. Crews are now conducting remaining sidewalk work near Wesley Barrow Stadium.
Please note: There will be no work on these projects from Dec. 23 through Jan. 1. Work will resume on Jan. 2.

Hotel Collapse Site Rehabilitation
Scope: Waterline installation, drainage upgrades, pavement, and sidewalk restoration
Status:

N. Rampart Street: Street restoration is ongoing, with one lane currently open to traffic.

Iberville Street: One side of the street has been paved, and crews are working on sidewalk repairs.

Canal Street: Crews poured the curb last week and are now working on sidewalk and roadway restoration.

Burgundy Street: Crews are coordinating with AT&T to complete utility work before pavement restoration resumes.
Additional waterline tie-ins are scheduled for Monday, Dec. 23, at Iberville & Rampart, Canal & Rampart, and Canal & Burgundy. Impacted parties will be notified 48 hours in advance. Once the waterline tie-ins are completed on Monday, the focus will shift to street restoration and sidewalk repairs.
Scope: Repairing and upgrading concrete and specialty sidewalks (brick/stone)
Status:

Camp Street (Canal to Poydras): All work is complete, except for minor repairs on the 200 block of Camp Street.

Dumaine Street (Dauphine to Royal): Repairs are in progress but have been delayed due to a water leak on the 700 block of Dumaine. Once SWBNO completes the leak repairs, crews will finish the remaining work.

400 Governor Nicholls Street: Repairs are ongoing.

Lafayette Square (St. Charles to Camp): Work is currently underway.

Rampart (Poydras to Canal): Work is progressing and is scheduled to continue through December.
