2024 Right of Way / Pavement Improvement Construction Update
The Department of Public Works (DPW) is actively performing construction across multiple projects citywide. Currently, five major contracts are in progress, with additional projects set to begin in the coming weeks.

DPW716: Central Business District (CBD) Right of Way Project
Locations:
- Poydras Street (S. Claiborne to Convention Center Blvd.)
- Julia Street (Convention Center Blvd. to Loyola Ave.)
- Girod Street (Loyola Ave. to S. Liberty St.)
Status:

Poydras Street: Final sidewalk and curb repairs are underway. Roadway striping will be completed next week, weather permitting. A new bike lane will be installed between Loyola Ave. and Convention Center Blvd. in mid-November.

Julia Street: ADA ramp installations are finishing up. Striping is scheduled for next week.

Girod Street: Remaining sidewalk repairs and permanent striping are expected to finish by the end of November.
Weekend work is scheduled for both the Poydras and Julia Street projects.

DPW704: Hotel Collapse Site Rehabilitation
Scope: Waterline installation, drainage upgrades, pavement, and sidewalk restoration.
Status:

N. Rampart Street: Street restoration is underway, with reopening expected on November 11.

Iberville Street: Roadway restoration ongoing.

Canal and Burgundy Streets: Waterline tie-ins will be performed soon, with 48-hour notice given for any service disruptions.

Sidewalk Repairs
Scope: Repairing and upgrading concrete and specialty sidewalks (brick/stone).
Status:

Camp St. (Canal to Poydras): Ongoing repairs through November due to prior delays from a water leak.

Dumaine St. (Decatur - N. Rampart): Concrete work finishing next week.

400 Governor Nicholls St.: Scheduled for upcoming repairs.

Pirates Alley: Work continues through November, weather permitting.

DPW774: Dowman Road / Lincoln Beach Project
Scope: Road resurfacing, striping, sidewalk repairs, and underground utility updates.
Status:

Dowman Rd. (Hayne Blvd. and Chef Menteur Hwy.): Sidewalk repairs are ongoing. Milling is scheduled for next week, with one lane remaining open to traffic. Milling on Lincoln Beach Blvd. will start the week of November 18. Expected completion is Winter 2025.

Day Work: Monday through Friday, 7 AM – 5 PM

Night Work: Sunday through Thursday, 8 PM – 5 AM
This Week:
- Night work includes milling, patching, and paving on Perdido, N. Maestri, S. Maestri, and S. Broad Streets.
Next Week:
- Day work will focus on concrete repairs on Howard, Girod, Old Poydras, Gravier, S. Prieur, Natchez, and Union Streets.
