Scope: Patching, milling, and resurfacing the street, re-striping, sidewalk repairs, installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant ramps where needed, and driveway apron repairs
Street work has been completed. Currently, sidewalk work is underway on the lakebound sides, along with roadway striping. Remaining tasks include brick and curb work. Beginning in mid-November, a new bike lane will be added in both directions on Poydras Street, between Loyola Avenue and Convention Center Boulevard. Additionally, a riverbound bike lane will be installed between South Liberty and Loyola. All work is expected to be completed by November.
Please note, City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, for Election Day; however, crews will continue to work that day to ensure project progress.
Scope: Roadway removal and replacement, re-striping, sidewalk repairs, installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant ramps, and driveway apron repairs
Crews have completed drainage upgrades at the intersection of Baronne and Julia Streets. Work on the remaining ADA-compliant ramps and roadway patching is ongoing and expected to be completed next week. One lane of traffic will remain open until then to accommodate the concrete patches. Once this is finished, the street will fully reopen. Striping is scheduled to begin next week, with all work anticipated to be completed by November.
Please note, City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, for Election Day; however, crews will continue to work that day to ensure project progress.
The work is complete. For more information about the project, please visit the Project Page on our website here.
Scope: Patching, milling, and resurfacing the street, re-striping, and various sidewalk repairs
Street repairs are complete, and the street has reopened. Sidewalk repairs are ongoing, with remaining work including permanent striping. The overall project is expected to be finished by November, weather permitting.
Please note, City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, for Election Day; however, crews will continue to work that day to ensure project progress.
Scope: Waterline and drainage installation, along with pavement and sidewalk restoration at various locations
Waterline work on Iberville, Burgundy, Canal, and N. Rampart Streets is complete, except at the intersections. Crews are currently installing a waterline at the Iberville/Burgundy intersection, which remains closed to accommodate this work. Significant delays occurred due to underground utility conflicts. Following ATT utility work and valve repairs by the Sewerage and Water Board (SWB), the City is moving forward with the waterline installation, expected to continue through next week. The intersection will stay closed until the new waterline is connected.
The next phase will involve tying the new waterline into the existing system, which may cause temporary water service disruptions for residents and businesses. The contractor will provide a 48-hour advance notice to those affected.
Street restoration on N. Rampart Street between Canal and Iberville is also underway, with traffic rerouted to Basin Street. The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has temporarily replaced streetcar service on the 46-Rampart-Loyola line. Please refer to the latest Traffic Advisory for updates here.
Restoration work on Iberville Street from Burgundy to N. Rampart is ongoing.
Please note that while City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, for Election Day, construction crews will continue working to maintain project timelines.
Sidewalk repairs began in late August in the Central Business District (CBD) / French Quarter (FQ), aiming to enhance safety and accessibility by addressing both concrete and specialty sidewalks (brick and/or stone). Crews are working at multiple locations within the project areas, with additional construction storage and equipment staged in the parking lanes. Residents may experience limited parking availability due to this equipment, along with some noise and dust associated with the construction activities. To minimize disruptions, safety cones will be placed around the work sites, and temporary access will be arranged for businesses.
