Join Us for Coffee on Your Corner!
Coffee on Your Corner is designed to be an engaging in-person event that provides residents with an opportunity to hear about city programs, initiatives, and operations directly from city officials and/ or representatives. To accommodate residents less inclined to attend public meetings in the evenings outside of their communities, we've created Coffee on Your Corner (COYC) to bring city government to residents.
A Swingin' Good Time at the Line Dance Party & Health Fair for Seniors!
On Thursday, October 17th, the Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office hosted a vibrant 60s Line Dance Party and Health Fair at Joe W. Brown Park in New Orleans East. With over 125 enthusiastic seniors in attendance, the event was a perfect blend of fun and health awareness. The atmosphere was electric as attendees got into the groove with classic line dances, bringing back the spirit of the 60s.
In addition to the dancing, the event featured a health fair. NEO partnered with Walgreens, TouroLCMC Health, Aetna, and the New Orleans Health Department. Seniors had access to valuable health resources including free flu vaccines and blood pressure screenings. We’re proud to share that 30 seniors rolled up their sleeves for vaccinations, and 45 took advantage of the free blood pressure screenings, important steps toward maintaining their health.
This event wasn’t just about staying active; it was also about building community ties and ensuring that our seniors have access to crucial health information. By creating a fun and engaging environment, we hope to encourage our seniors to prioritize their well-being while enjoying the company of friends.
A big thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible. Your support is invaluable in enhancing the lives of our senior citizens.
Beautifying New Orleans through the Neighborhood Enrichment Grant!
The Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office proudly celebrates the successful completion of several beautification projects made possible through the Neighborhood Enrichment Grant. These projects have revitalized local neighborhoods, enhancing public spaces and fostering a sense of community pride.
Through collaborative efforts, we’ve transformed areas into inviting environments that reflect the vibrant spirit of our city. We look forward to continued improvements that support the well-being and beauty of our cherished neighborhoods.
Community Office Hours
The Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office would like you to know that Community Office Hours (COH) will be on intermission starting November 14th.
The program continues to be one of Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s priorities and we look forward to its return next year. It is essential that the two-way street of effective communication and information stays open, to address neighborhood issues.
Residents will have the opportunity to meet with neighborhood liaisons and city personnel in-person or by virtual appointment. Stay tuned for more information about when and where you can participate in the Community Office Hours (COH) program starting next year.
Register To Get Your Neighborhood Association Recognized!
What Is It: Recognized Neighborhood Associations are required to resubmit their information every two years to be added to the published list and map on the City’s website.
What To Do: Visit this link to submit your neighborhood’s information starting June 8th, 2024. Also hold a community meeting and invite your Neighborhood Liaison if you have not done so already in 2024. Both steps are required to obtain official recognition. Each association that completes this process will be published on the map and list on the City’s website and receive a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor.
