Girod (Loyola to S. Liberty)
Scope: Patching, milling, and resurfacing the street, re-striping, and various sidewalk repairs
Street repairs are complete, and the street has reopened. Sidewalk repairs are still in progress. Permanent striping on Poydras, Julia, and Girod Streets will be done simultaneously at a later date. The overall project is expected to be completed by October.
Scope: Waterline and drainage installation, along with pavement and sidewalk restoration at various locations
Iberville Street: The waterline installation on Iberville is complete, except at the Iberville/Burgundy intersection. The street remains closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic; however, the block is accessible to local traffic only. Sidewalk and paving work will occur at various locations along the block.
Burgundy Street: The waterline installation on Burgundy is complete, except at the Iberville/Burgundy intersection, where work is ongoing. The intersection will remain closed for an additional two weeks, weather permitting. Delays in reopening are due to the Sewerage and Water Board (SWB) identifying necessary valve repairs at the intersection. Valve repair work will begin next week, requiring the intersection to remain closed for another two weeks.
Canal: Crews have removed the granite pavers and curbs in preparation for the waterline replacement. Waterline work is ongoing. Once the waterline work is finished, the team will move on to milling, overlay, and final sidewalk repairs.
North Rampart: Waterline installation work is complete, and the next step is to tie the new waterline into the existing one. Please note that when crews perform this tie-in, residents and businesses may experience service disruptions. The contractor will notify those anticipated to be affected by water service interruptions 48 hours in advance. The right traffic lane, parking lane, and sidewalk remain closed to accommodate construction.
Sidewalk repairs began in late August in the Central Business District (CBD), aiming to enhance safety and accessibility by addressing both concrete and specialty sidewalks (brick and/or stone). Crews are working at multiple locations within the project areas, with additional construction storage and equipment staged in the parking lanes. Residents may experience limited parking availability due to this equipment, along with some noise and dust associated with the construction activities. To minimize disruptions, safety cones will be placed around the work sites, and temporary access will be arranged for businesses.
