Traffic Advisory: Temporary Lane Closures on Moss Street

DeSaix

NEW ORLEANS — Beginning Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, weather permitting, the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works contractor, Impetus Construction, LLC, will shift existing lane closures on Moss Street fully, from DeSaix Boulevard to Esplanade Avenue, in order to complete roadway excavation and restoration as part of the DeSaix Boulevard (Bayou St. John Bridge) construction project.

During this time, crews will be removing and replacing sections of damaged roadway on the interior lanes of Moss Street, limiting traffic to one lane in each direction between DeSaix Boulevard and Esplanade Avenue. The temporary lane closure will begin at 7 a.m. on Jan. 4, 2024, and will remain in place for approximately two weeks. Residents in this area were notified of the closure via a neighborhood canvass.

The $6 million DeSaix Boulevard (Bayou St. John Bridge) project was designed by Neel-Schaffer, Inc. and is being constructed by Impetus Construction, LLC. The scope of work varies by block but includes bridge reconstruction, resurfacing the street entirely and streetscape improvement, such as ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections. The contractor is working from 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday through Friday. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by Winter 2025, weather permitting.
