MAYOR CANTRELL ISSUES STATEMENT ON ADOPTION OF 2024 BUDGET
NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell today issued the following statement on the adoption of the City's budget for the 2024 fiscal year:
“I often say that the budget is a moral document that goes beyond simply outlining our funding priorities – it speaks to our shared, lived values,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “After engaging with our greatest, most treasured assets – our people – this administration developed and declared the 2024 proposed budget as the people's budget.
The 2024 budget represents year two of an ambitious three-year plan that will leverage our influx of one-time funds to reset, restabilize and establish a ‘new normal’ of operations over the next three years and beyond. The 2023 budget laid the foundation, and now, 2024 is all about execution and providing high-level service to residents, businesses and visitors, while making continued investments in our dedicated workforce.
The 2024 budget is the result of the hard work and dedication our City employees have delivered on behalf of our residents to continue to build off the successes we have experienced this year. My administration continues to strive to make City government a more attractive place to work, including properly compensating our hardworking public servants.
To our residents: I want you to know that this administration has always and will always keep you at our forefront, with your priorities and your best interest in mind. This budget was made for you and made by you, and we will continue to put all necessary tools and resources to bear that will usher this city into a trailblazing future for generations to come. I want to thank the New Orleans City Council for listening and collectively working with the members of this administration to pass the 2024 budget for our people."
