Traffic Advisory: Emergency Closure on Old Gentilly Road
NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced that last night, a fire underneath one of the underpass bridges on Old Gentilly Road caused the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) to close the bridge as they inspect the structural integrity. Out of an abundance of caution, the Department of Public Works (DPW) has placed type III barricades at Old Gentilly Road and Reynes Street, as well as Old Gentilly Road and Downman Road.
Public safety is our top priority; signage and traffic control measures will remain in place to facilitate safe movement while LaDOTD completes their assessments. The barricades will be lifted once the roadway is safe for public access.
