Global Green USA Launches Groundbreaking Initiative to Rebuild and Empower the Community with the Support of Mayor Cantrell
NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced that Global Green USA, a leading environmental organization with a successful 30-year track record, is launching the Global Green Community Project, an ambitious initiative aimed at rebuilding and creating lasting positive impacts in the Lower Ninth Ward. This innovative project focuses on environmental justice and sustainable housing, empowering residents and creating a model that can be replicated in underserved communities.
"We know the 'Make it Right' Foundation did not make it right for everyone in the Lower Ninth Ward following Hurricane Katrina," said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. "That's why I am so proud to announce that the City of New Orleans is partnering with Global Green to raise $5 million to build a Global Green Community right here in the Lower Ninth Ward. These funds will be used to rebuild and repair homes with renewable energy, sustainable materials, as well as green-certified building practices and standards. This City is excited to right this wrong for our residents of the Lower Ninth Ward. We know that this is what this community wants and what they deserve. I want to thank Global Green for going the extra mile to raise the money and also for incorporating influencers and business partners to make this meaningful investment into the City of New Orleans."
The Global Green Community Project will be the first of its kind, bringing together community members for educational activities, promoting individual prosperity and contributing to the greater planetary good. This initiative serves as a beacon of hope for the 109 families who have been disproportionately affected by environmental catastrophes, particularly Hurricane Katrina, and are at the forefront of the battle against climate change.

To kickstart the rebuilding efforts, Global Green USA is launching the "Building a Global Green Community for New Orleans" campaign. The goal of this campaign is to secure $5 million for the first round of the project, with the initial fundraising efforts already reaching an inspiring $382,000. To support the campaign, a dedicated GoFundMe page has been created.
Global Green USA is also proud to have garnered local support from the New Orleans Pelicans' Larry Nance Jr. and CJ McCollum.
