Annual Nature Photo Contest starts March 1

Nature Photo Contest Spring 2023

Calling all photographers of all skill levels in Greater New Orleans!

Get outside, take pictures and win prizes! Submit up to three photos celebrating nature in NOLA in our annual spring online contest. Photos may include wildlife, plants, natural landscapes, people enjoying the outdoors, or any photo in which nature is the central theme.  

Vote for your favorites via the contest website. The contest runs from March 1 – April 17.  

An Audubon Family Membership is awarded the top three winners. Other prizes are awarded to honorable mentions. Winners are announced on Earth Day. FREE and open to all!

Girls on the Run at NORD 2023

Join us and Girls on the Run for the Spring season at Milne Rec Center, Mon & Wed. from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

This is a life-changing program for girls that promotes girl empowerment by teaching life skills through lessons & running. Open to girls in grades 3rd-8th. $25.00 registration fee: Athletics-Registration-Form-2023-Girls-on-the-Run

Save the date! Summer Camp Expo 

Summer will be here before we know it, so it's time to start making camp plans for your kids.
On Saturday, March 11 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, visit one of the NORD recreation centers listed below to find out about all the awesome camps they are offering this summer. This will be the first opportunity to speak to camp staff directly and learn more about their camp, activities, and requirements. Summer Camp Registration Requirements 2023

WE ARE HIRING!

Lifeguard 2023

We are hiring summer lifeguards!  

Salaries start at $15.91/hr.
Training Provided
Must be at least 16 years old.

Candidates interested in becoming a lifeguard for 2023 summer must do the following:
Attend Lifeguard Hiring Orientation Session—Arrive 15 minutes early to be processed.
Complete the following pre-requisite before attending Lifeguard training class.
Swim 300 meters or 12 laps (freestyle and breaststroke only)
Recover 10-pound brick from 7 to 8 ft. of water and swim back with object for 15 yards.
2 minutes of deep-water treading (legs only).
Lifeguard Recertification class is a 2-day class Tuesdays through Fridays 9AM-2PM or 2-7PM. (The entire class must be completed in order to be re-certified.)
All applicants must bring the following documents to the session:
  • Government Issued Picture Identification (Valid Driver’s License or State Issued ID)
  • Original Social Security Card
  • Additional Required for applicants under eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Signed Work permit.
Louisiana Workforce Commission Application to Employ Minors must be picked up from NORD.
Main office (5420 Franklin Ave) and submitted to your school or Job 1 to receive a Louisiana.
Workforce Commission work permit before coming to the session.
