Traffic Advisory: Temporary Lane Closure on 6300 Block of Elysian Fields Avenue
NEW ORLEANS — Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 13, weather permitting, City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor, Command Construction Industries, LLC, will continue with subsurface utility work that will temporarily close the right-hand lane of the 6300 block of Elysian Fields Avenue to vehicular traffic to accommodate construction on the Milneburg Group A construction project.
Detours and road closures will begin at 7 a.m. on Sept. 13 and will remain in effect until Friday, Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
Residents and businesses in this area were notified of the closure through neighborhood canvassing. Vehicles entering and exiting Burger King will experience no change to their traffic pattern. Vehicles entering and exiting the Shell Gas Station will be re-routed to the entrance on Mexico Street.
The $15.4M Milneburg Group A project was designed by Mott MacDonald, Inc. and is being constructed by Command Construction Industries, LLC. The scope of work varies by block but includes repairing sewerage, water and drainage lines, rebuilding the street entirely and repairing sidewalks and curbs. In general, the contractor is working from 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday through Friday, and the entire project is scheduled to be complete by winter 2023, weather permitting.
