Parade of Fashions: Explore Avant-Garde Parisian Style
On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, Gallier Hall served as the runway backdrop for Parade of Fashions, a presentation of unconventional and avante-garde styles created by fashion design students from École Duperré Paris (The Duperré School of Applied Arts). The renowned institution is a public college of art and design in Paris, France where students earn degree-level training in fashion, textiles, interior design, graphic arts, and ceramics. Parade of Fashions was hosted by New Orleans Fashion Week in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Cultural Economy (OCE) and the Cultural Attaché to the Consulate General of France in New Orleans. École Duperré Paris designers and local New Orleans designers also participated in Designer X Designer EXCHANGE, a networking opportunity that furthers OCE's efforts to build a network of international artists while supporting local creatives across all sectors of arts and culture.

2022 Mayor for a Day Essay Contest
Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the Office of Youth and Families (OYF) are excited to announce that the 2022 “Mayor for a Day” essay contest is open. The “Mayor for a Day” program aims to foster and encourage leadership in young people living in New Orleans. Orleans Parish youth ages 11–18 are invited to write essays about what New Orleans would be like if they were Mayor for a day. Three winners will be selected and given the opportunity to be sworn in as "Deputy Mayor," and shadow Mayor Cantrell for an entire day.
Entries accepted until Friday, April 8, 2022. Winners will be announced the week of May 5, 2022 and will be notified by email and phone. For more information and to register, please visit www.nola.gov/m4day.

The 25th New Orleans French Film Festival Kicks Off This Friday
The 25th New Orleans French Film Festival, one of the longest-running foreign language festivals in the country, will showcase excellence in contemporary and classic francophone Cinema between March 11 – 17, 2022 at the historic Prytania Theatre with some films also available to stream on the Virtual Cinema. New Orleans Music Fridays: Amina Scott
The New Orleans Jazz Museum presents Amina Scott. Join them on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. in celebration of the music that makes New Orleans a world destination for music. This program takes place inside the third floor Performance Center listening room. Admission is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and offered on a first come, first serve basis. Arts Market New Orleans This Saturday
Join featured Artist Spencer Epps and 30+ of your favorite local artists at Arts Market New Orleans this Saturday, March 12, 2022, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on City Park's Goldring/ Woldenberg Great Lawn.
Spencer Epps received a BFA in illustration from Otis College of Art and Design in 2012. He began Nola City Portraits in 2016. Nola City Portraits is a mixture of nostalgia, modern design, and bold color, set in New Orleans. Featured is a collection of illustrations inspired by vintage advertisements and travel posters.

Gallery Talk with Dave Greber: The Casebearer
Join Richard McCabe, Curator of Photography, on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. for a Gallery Talk with artist Dave Greber, exploring The Casebearer. The newly opened exhibition features a selection of the New Orleans artist’s recent work and includes immersive video artworks, projections, and sculptural objects. Greber’s unique visual language and adaptive style make him a leading pioneer in contemporary video art. He has created site-specific video installations across the globe that comment on commercialism, pop culture, advertising and humankind’s complex relationship with technology and nature.

Opening Weekend of #fail
The Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans (CAC) is excited to debut #fail, a multimedia group exhibition bringing together works by 25 artists that expose systemic failures facing our world. Join the CAC on March 12, 2022 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. for Opening Night featuring the exhibition debut, special performances, and more. A series of panel discussions will take place on Sunday, March 13 from 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. with the exhibition artists, moderated by Alpesh Kantilal Patel.

CAC Announces 9th Annual Gulf South Open Call Exhibition
The CAC is excited to announce its 9th annual Gulf South Open Call inviting artists to submit artworks that reflect on issues surrounding the environment. This will be the third exhibition in the CAC's Inter[SECTOR] series of programs that explore intersections of art and social issues. This year’s exhibition will be curated by Erin Lee Antonak, the CAC’s new Multidisciplinary Arts Curator. The exhibition will be on view at the Contemporary Arts Center from July 30 – September 25, 2022. Learn more about the exhibit.

“Music of Italy” Concert in the Beauregard-Keyes House Courtyard
Join the Beauregard-Keyes House on Sunday, March 13, 2022 for a presentation of Italian classics by New Orleans' own Electric Yat Quartet (EYQ) featuring guest vocalist and opera singer Baraba Smith-Davis. The program will include performances of works by Vivaldi, Puccini, Morricone, and many more to celebrate the history of the neighborhood once known as Piccolo Palermo.
This event is taking place in celebration of St. Joseph’s Day. BK House will also host a traditional St. Joseph's Alter, March 16 – 19, 2022, in honor of the Patron Saint. The public is welcome to join in marking this sacred Sicilian tradition, which has been celebrated in the French Quarter since Sicilian immigrants began arriving in the city in the late 19th century.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the performance starting at 6 p.m. This is a "Bring Your Own Beverage" event; bringing extra cups and bottle openers suggested. Light refreshments will also be available. Seating is limited. Get tickets here.

St. Patrick’s Day at Deutsches Haus
To celebrate the melding of the German and Irish cultures, on Sunday, March 13, 2022 (the Sunday before St. Patrick’s Day) Deutsches Haus will celebrate Ireland’s Patron Saint as they do in the small villages in the Old Country: with a Ceili. There will be traditional music, Irish dancing, bagpipers, authentic Irish food (with some nuggets and fries for the kids), and other family-oriented activities.
This event starts at Noon with an authentic ‘Old German’ handing over the keys to the Haus to the Irish with the admonition ‘please don’t burn the place down,’ followed by a priest’s blessing in Gaelic, singing of the Irish National Anthem, raising of the Republic Flag, and bagpipers.

Danny O’Flaherty in Concert at Deutsches Haus
Originally from the Aran Islands and Connemara off the west coast of Ireland, Danny was reared in a culture steeped in Celtic history and began his singing career as a boy. He is remembered fondly by many as the owner of O’Flaherty’s Pub in the Quarter where he performed regularly for many years. This event is open to the general public. Ticket prices are $15 for Haus members, $20 for non-members, and free for kids under 12. Performance begins at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Seating is limited, so it is recommended to purchase tickets early.

Educators Artists Scientists Engaging Learners (EASEL) Call for Participants
A Studio in the Woods is collaborating with Dillard University, STEMNOLA, University at Buffalo, LSU, and ArtSpot Productions on EASEL, a community participatory art/science/education research project. EASEL is seeking participants currently living in the 70126, 70127, and 70128 zip codes to bring their personal experience with climate change to collaborate with a team of scientists, artists, and educators to develop a performance to share with their community. Participants will be compensated a $1,300 stipend per person for a total commitment of 60 hours.
The project will take place April and May 2022. See application form for exact dates and time. Priority will be given to applications received by March 15, 2022.

Experience the Wonder of Queen Nefertari's Egypt
Queen Nefertari, the royal wife of Pharaoh Ramesses II (reigned 1279–13 BCE), is linked to some of the most magnificent monuments of ancient Egypt. Opening Friday, March 18, at NOMA, Queen Nefertari's Egypt brings to life the role of Nefertari and other powerful women through 230 exceptional objects, including statues, jewelry, vases, papyrus, steles, wooden coffins, and stone sarcophagi.
Due to the momentous nature of this exhibition, NOMA will be open seven days a week (March 18th - July 17th, 2022) and have special extended hours for Queen Nefertari's Egypt. Booking tickets in advance is highly recommended to guarantee entry at your preferred time. Plan your visit.

Bring the Francophonie of New Orleans to life with Alliance Française de La Nouvelle-Orléans (AFNO) for the Caravane Festival on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. In the evening, dance, have a drink, and enjoy crêpes and the ReBelles! This festival will be shaped by collaborative activities open to all, workshops for children and adults, and even a concert with Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes and other artistic surprises!

PiaNola is Making its "Grand Entrance" into New Orleans
Sing for Hope, in partnership with The Creole Connection and PiaNola, announced details of The Sing for Hope Pianos: PiaNola program, with 8 local artist-designed upright pianos in parks and public spaces across New Orleans. Part of the global Sing for Hope Pianos community initiative, these uniquely colorful piano artworks will be available for anyone and everyone to play, listen, interact with, and enjoy from March 29 – April 13, 2022. At the conclusion of their public residency, the Sing for Hope Pianos will be moved to permanent homes in schools and community-based organizations across the greater New Orleans area, where they will inspire lives for years to come.
Each Sing for Hope Piano instrument will feature original artwork designed by New Orleans-based visual artists and will appear at iconic locations throughout the area, including the New Orleans Jazz Museum, City Park, the Green Project, New Orleans Healing Center, and more.
The official unveiling of the 8 Sing for Hope Pianos will take place on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.at Hotel Peter and Paul, with special performances by Tuba Skinny & the Romantic Ramblers. For event info visit PianolaPianos.org.
