City of New Orleans Completes Upgrades, Maintenance on South Broad Street Overpass Bike Lanes

Broad Collage 4

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) and its contractor Pavement Markings last week completed work on the South Broad Street overpass that featured upgrades and maintenance on the bike lanes between Third Street and Tulane Avenue.

The renovation of the bike lanes included an overall cleaning, refreshed roadway markings, green bike lane surfacing, and replacement of the wide bollards on the overpass with narrow delineator flexposts to allow for regular sweeping by the City’s bike lane sweeper.

“We recognize that infrastructure maintenance is just as important as the infrastructure work itself. We are proud of the new bicycle infrastructure that was added to the South Broad Street overpass in 2019, which more safely connects our neighborhoods. But we must continue to maintain these improvements for people on bikes and the crews working to keep the area safe and clean. I want to thank our DPW team and our contractors for getting this renovation done,” said Josh Hartley, Acting Director, Department of Public Works.
