Traffic Advisory: Temporary Lane Closures on Broad Street Overpass Beginning Monday

NEW ORLEANS — Beginning Monday, Nov. 8, weather permitting, for two weeks, City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) and its contractor Pavement Markings will temporarily close lanes on the South Broad Street overpass between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to perform maintenance and upgrades on the bike lanes between Third Street and Tulane Avenue. One lane of traffic in both directions will remain open at all times.

During the first week, crew members will improve striping, add green markings, and replace bollards on the approaches to the Broad Street overpass. During the second week beginning on Monday, Nov. 15, a combination of DPW personnel and contractors will clean the bike lanes, refresh roadway markings, add green bike lane surfacing, and replace bollards on the bridge structure.

The replacement of the wide bollards with narrower delineator posts will allow for regular sweeping by the City’s bike lane sweeper.

Public safety is our priority; people driving are asked to travel at reduced speeds and to be mindful of workers in the area. People bicycling can expect temporary disruptions to the bike lanes during this time.
