Annual Neighborhood Summit Returns In-Person at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center
The Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office hosted over 600 residents at the 2021 Neighborhood Summit, a professional development conference for neighborhood leaders.
Over 600 residents took part in a day of learning, networking, and celebration at the 2021 Neighborhood Summit this past Saturday at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office thanks all who attended for making the 2021 Summit a success with meaningful conversations and feedback on how we can make our communities stronger and more resilient.

Applications for the Community Impact Grant Now OPEN!
We are excited to announce that applications for the CleanUpNOLA Community Impact Grant are NOW open!
The CleanUpNOLA Community Impact Grant is designed to encourage residents to engage with their neighborhood by way of developing a beautification or “Green Infrastructure” project as a community. We encourage residents, organizations, and community leaders to work together in an ongoing effort to maintain pride in their community and global well-being.
Applicant eligibility
Applicant must meet each of the following criteria:
- Be a member of any formal or informal neighborhood/community association
- Be a resident of Orleans Parish
- 18 years of age or older
- 501(c)3 designation (for formal associations) or Federal tax ID number (for informal association)
The application deadline is Monday, December 6, 2021, at 5 PM.

NEO Graduates Fall Cohort of
Civic Leadership Academy
Congratulations to our Fall 2021 Civic Leadership Academy Cohort!
We are excited to have graduated the Fall 2021 Civic Leadership Academy on October 28th. With 25 students, this cohort of the Civic Leadership Academy was first return to in-person sessions. We look forward to seeing the incredible leadership work that our graduates do in their respective communities!
NEO Hosts Hollygrove Community Day at Conrad Playground
Saturday, October 16th, the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office (NEO) held a Community Day in Hollygrove at Conrad Playground. NEO partnered with Giving Hope NOLA, City of Love Church, Hands On New Orleans, and over 50 volunteers to distribute over 300 boxes of food and over 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to residents.
FEMA and SBA representatives were on site providing disaster assistance to dozens of residents, as well as Care ElevenHealth – Urgent Care staff that disseminated COVID-19 vaccines. Several City departments and community organizations joined the event to provide job opportunities, city resource information, and community giveaways.
District "A" Residents Join NEO for "Coffee On Your Corner"
Last month, District A residents sat down for coffee with Josh Hartley, Director of the Department of Public Works, Sarah Porteous, RoadworkNOLA Director of Special Projects & Strategic Engagement, and Khalid Saleh, Program Administrator of the Department of Public Works. Residents were able to ask questions relating to green and grey infrastructure projects in their neighborhood, while enjoying coffee and donuts!

Movies in the Park
Join us every Friday night for a family-friendly, outdoor movie at playgrounds across the city. Picnics and lawn chairs welcome! Free and open to all. Registration required. COVID guidelines will be enforced.

Starting Nov. 1 – Dec. 8
All NORD Rec Centers will be drop off locations for new, unwrapped toys for youth 0-17. This toy drive supports our annual Drive Thru Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 11 at Lafitte Greenway.

2021 Fiscal Map
The Office of Youth and Families recently released the 2021 Fiscal Map, which is a comprehensive analysis of the City’s public investments in youth and children in New Orleans. This resource assists City leaders in identifying and aligning spending with priorities.
In addition, non-profits, residents and community groups are encouraged to use the resources to better understand the City’s public investments in children and youth.

Cake Pan Collection
The Library has launched a new collection that allows cardholders to borrow professional-grade cake pans for up to three weeks. The Cake Pan Collection lives at Rosa F. Keller Library & Community Center and features a variety of shapes and sizes –– including character pans like SpongeBob and Cinderella, as well as sets for cakes up to five tiers tall. Browse the collection online and call any Library location to reserve a pan.

Girls Who Code
Build coding and creativity skills by joining Girls Who Code, a weekly New Orleans Public Library club for 6th - 12th graders to learn about computer science in a fun and safe environment.
Girls Who Code is a virtual place to spend time with a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models. By promoting female and non-binary identifyng individuals to get involved in the technology center, Girls Who Code is on a mission to change the face of coding.
The club meets from 4 to 5 p.m. every Monday through November 22 via Zoom. New members are always welcome!
