NOPD Identify Wanted Suspect for Battery on Officer, Resisting Arrest with Force

Suspect and Vehicle

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD has obtained a warrant for the arrest of Ronald Stephen Riley, Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-05-1999), positively identified as the perpetrator of a battery on a police officer and resisting an officer by force on April 9, 2021 in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue.

At 9:07 a.m., Riley – who has previously been identified as a suspect in multiple recent local USPS mail drop box thefts – was reportedly seen arriving to the location in the pictured newer-model grey Chevrolet Corvette with a black top and pictured temporary license tag. The location is adjacent to USPS mail drop boxes which have been known targets. Officers attempted to engage Riley in an investigatory stop. However, Riley allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle, striking one of the officers with his vehicle and injuring the officer.

When located, Riley will be arrested on charges in this incident including battery of a police officer and resisting a police officer with force or violence with injury. Riley also faces Federal charges in regard to mail drop box thefts. Any questions regarding these charges should be addressed to USPS Postal Police.

Anyone with additional information on this incident or on Riley’s whereabouts is asked to contact NOPD Third District detectives at 504-658-6030 or call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
