City of New Orleans Department of Public Works Reports On Success of Joint Infrastructure Program

NEW ORLEANS — On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, during the New Orleans City Council Public Works Committee meeting, Department of Public Works leadership reported on the current progress of the Joint Infrastructure Program (JIRR). Program highlights included the announcement of 62 roadway projects valued at $375M currently under construction since summer 2020.

“Getting these projects from design to construction underscores our commitment to responsibly getting this much needed work out to the public,” said Ramsey Green, Deputy CAO for infrastructure.

In addition to the projects under construction, there are currently 20 projects in the bid and award phase, valued at $200 million. There are also 30 projects in the final design stage, valued at $295 million.

The JIRR projects include work in every council district, including the recently awarded $11.9 million Black Pearl/East Carrollton Group A project and three projects in the Lower Ninth Ward totaling a $22.1 million investment. Over 15 projects have been completed within the program at an approximate cost of $80.2 million. This includes the recently completed $4.6 million Village De L'Est Group A project in New Orleans East.

“Moving these projects from start to a quality completion is the priority,” said Keith LaGrange, Director of the Department of Public Works.
