Mayor Cantrell Issues Statement in Support of
Affordable Housing Plan for HANO Sites
NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell today issued the following statement in support of Iris Development's plan for affordable housing on vacant Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) properties located in the Carrollton Riverbend and Lower Garden District neighborhoods:
"Since my time on the City Council leading the Community Development Committee, I have been a champion for the redevelopment of HANO scatter sites," said Mayor Cantrell. "This program will bring new affordable housing to high opportunity neighborhoods and new housing opportunities for our residents. In the current climate, this program is beyond needed and I am so excited for this work to finally come to fruition."
The plan is to be presented to the City Council's Community Development Committee meeting today.
