City of New Orleans to Host Public Meetings on

Moving New Orleans Bikes Projects Across New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – The Department of Public Works, Roadwork NOLA and the Mayor’s Office of Transportation are collaborating on improvements for the French Quarter/Marigny and Central City/Lower Garden District Transportation Networks. As part of the process, the City will host informational public meetings next week to provide an update on the proposed designs.


The transportation network projects, which are in the design phase with construction anticipated to begin later this summer, include road and sidewalk repairs, lane reductions, curb ramps, bike lanes, crosswalks and bus stop improvements. All of this work is designed in accordance with the City’s Complete Streets policy, which is centered around making equitable improvements for all users of the roadway.


The French Quarter and Marigny Transportation Network includes:

  • Elysian Fields Avenue (North Peters Street to St. Claude Avenue)
  • North Peters Street (Dumaine Street to Elysian Fields Avenue)
  • Decatur Street (Esplanade Avenue to Dumaine Street)
  • Franklin Avenue (North Peters Street to St. Claude Avenue)
  • Royal Street (Esplanade Avenue to Franklin Avenue)

  • South Galvez Street (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Erato Street)
  • Broad Street (Fourth Street to Thalia Street)
