Thursday: Second Teleconference to Discuss
Moving New Orleans Bikes' Algiers Work
NEW ORLEANS — As part of the Moving New Orleans Bikes initiative, the Mayor’s Office of Transportation, the Neighborhood Engagement Office and the Department of Public Works on Thursday, April 30, will host a teleconference to discuss the build-out of six new bike corridors in Algiers. This will be the second of two meetings this month and is a follow-up to the conceptual design meetings held in August 2019. The meeting will run from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
"We are excited to move the work forward in spite of the COVID-19 outbreak and with the invaluable collaboration with the residents of Algiers, and look forward to feedback through this teleconference," said Laura Bryan, Director, Mayor's Office of Transportation.
The Department of Public Works soon will begin work on the six corridors below. Algiers residents are encouraged to join the meeting to get more details on the routes and how the upcoming changes may impact them.
- Holiday Drive (Behrman Place to General Meyer Avenue): Protected bike lanes
- MacArthur Drive (General de Gaulle Drive to Woodland Drive): Protected bike lanes
- Odeon Avenue (Wall Boulevard to Patterson Drive): Bike boulevard
- Wall Boulevard (General de Gaulle Drive to Holiday Drive): Protected bike lanes
- Westbend Parkway (General de Gaulle Drive to Wall Boulevard): Protected bike lanes
- Woodland Drive (Tullis Drive to General Meyer Avenue): Protected bike lanes
These projects are part of the Moving New Orleans Bikes Algiers rapid-build projects, which include a total of 11 miles of new bikeways across 11 different corridors.
