City of New Orleans Receives Donated Supplies from
Lowe's in COVID-19 Response
NEW ORLEANS — Today, the City of New Orleans received several truckloads of much-needed supplies donated by the home-improvement store Lowe's. Supplies are being processed by New Orleans Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) at the Smoothie King Center, and will be distributed to a combination of first responders, healthcare workers and area nonprofits.
"We are grateful for the generous and collaborative spirit of our corporate and nonprofit partners as we work to flatten the curve and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community," said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. "We not only need all hands on deck, but we need every resource we can identify to manage this emergency. We thank Lowe's for their help in our City's time of need."
"This donation will help keep the people responding on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis in New Orleans safe," said NOHSEP Director Collin Arnold. "I cannot thank Lowe’s enough for their contribution in a time when it is very difficult to procure personal protect equipment (PPE) through normal supply chains. We will work with City agencies and community partners to distribute this equipment to those who need it."
"Times like this should bring out the best in people and also bring out the best in companies," said Emanuel J. Fitch, District Manager of Lowe’s. "One of our core values is connecting with the community we serve. At Lowe's we understand it's our duty to take care of the communities that take care of us."
The supplies are being stored at the Smoothie King Center, temporary site of NOHSEP's City Logistics operations.

- Approximately 360,000 pairs of rubber gloves
