CITY HALL TO CLOSE AT NOON TODAY DUE

TO EXPECTED INCLEMENT WEATHER

NEW ORLEANS — City Hall and other government offices will be closed at noon today due to the forecasted severe weather.

Public safety departments and the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will remain open. City Hall operations will resume on Monday, April 22, at the regular scheduled time.

Storms, some of which could be severe, are forecast to move through New Orleans in the afternoon and evening on Thursday, April 18. Residents and visitors are encouraged to prepare for potentially severe weather and to stay weather aware.

The metro area is under an enhanced risk for severe weather and a slight risk for heavy rainfall in the New Orleans area today, with the highest risk between roughly 12 pm. to 7 pm., according to the National Weather Service. Note that this is a step above the marginal risk category we observed for other recent storms over the last couple weeks.
