Coffee on Your Corner
Discussion on Short Term Rentals, at Elizabeth's in the Bywater: Thursday, Feb. 21
At Pontilly Coffee in Gentilly, discussion Resilience + Sustainability programming: Thursday, Feb. 28
Is there any better way to spend a Thursday morning than at one of your favorite local coffee shops, chatting it up with City officials on all things related to Resilience + Sustainability, Short Term Rental enforcement, and more? We certainly doubt it.
This past month as part of our Coffee on Your Corner (COYC) series, NEO hosted informal discussions at Elizabeth's (District C - East Bank) and at Pontilly Coffee (District D) on the aforementioned topics. COYC is designed to accommodate residents who are less inclined to attend public meetings in the evenings outside of their communities.
This coming month, COYC will be coming to District C (West Bank) and District E. For more information, please visit: www.nola.gov/Coffee
Police - Community Advisory Boards in full swing
NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson with attendees of February's PCAB training
Police-Community Advisory Boards (PCAB) serve as partnerships between New Orleans residents and NOPD leadership with the goal of reducing crime and enhancing quality of life for all residents.
The newly formed PCABs in each NOPD District have been working hard at interacting with their respective communities, and at planning their first public meetings of the year.
If you would like to get in touch with your District's PCAB, find out more information about the program, and more, then please visit: www.nola.gov/PCAB
What's been happening at Community Office Hours?
Through Community Office Hours (COH), residents continue to express their appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity to participate in one-on-one interactions with their neighborhood liaisons and with City Department Representatives. We will continue to host City Department Reps at COH on specific dates throughout the year.
On Saturday, February 16th, in an effort to continually expand our reach, we held our first iteration of Saturday COH with great success. We will have another Saturday COH day on Saturday, April 20th, 2019 from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
Please continue stopping by COH during the week! For more information on COH, please click on the following link: www.nola.gov/COH
Park Millage Community Meetings
Mayor LaToya Cantrell speaks with residents at the District C Park Millage community meeting in February
Throughout the month of February, Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the New Orleans Park Partners held a series of community meetings in each council district to discuss the upcoming parks millage proposal.
The plan being put before the voters would adjust the millage rates for the Audubon Institute, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) and Parks and Parkways in part to allow City Park to finally receive dedicated funding. The millage will be put before voters on a referendum May 4, 2019.
For more information about the proposed millage, you may visit https://www.togetherforparks.org/
